Fines Instead of Charges for Marijuana Possession
16 Jun 2006 LA CROSSE - Those caught with marijuana in one western Wisconsin county could get off with just a fine. The La Crosse County Board has approved a new ordinance that gives law enforcement the option of fining people caught with small amounts of marijuana - instead of charging them with a misdemeanor.

14 Jun 2006 BILLERICA, Mass. -- A couple finds a surprise inside a vanity for their new bathroom.When they opened the cabinet, which was bought by a contractor at a Home Depot in Tewksbury, the couple found inside 50 pounds of marijuana.
Investigators say the box does not look like it was tampered with.
Both local police and the Drug Enforcement Administration are investigating.
No comment as of yet has been made from Home Depot on the drug discovery.
Drug paraphernalia turns up at corner store
12 Jun 2006 A new item being sold next to candy and chocolates in convenience stores in White Rock, B.C., has some parents concerned.Pipes often used to smoke drugs are showing up in shops along the beach in White Rock, a city about 45 kilometres from Vancouver.
Kerry Jackson, whose son took his own life after becoming addicted to crystal meth, says they have to go.
"Having our children normalized by the paraphernalia that we use to smoke it is not good for us, or good for them," Jackson told CTV Vancouver.
Jackson insists the pipes need to be taken off the shelves because they are just too tempting for children.

Experts are also concerned because South Florida is feared to reach the drug trafficking levels experienced in the 80’s as the federal government tightens security around the Mexican border.
RCMP seize 22.5 tonnes of hashish in sting
06 Jun 2006 A successful international operation off the coast of Angola has prevented 22.5 tonnes of hashish from entering Canada, the RCMP says.After receiving a tip 18 months ago, RCMP in Montreal and Halifax launched 'Operation Chabanel' -- an investigation that reached all the way to the African country.
