Description

(CBS4/AP) MIAMI Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld wants to end Army helicopter support for a joint U.S.-Bahamas counter-drug program.

The proposal is raising questions about the future of a decades-long effort that has resulted in hundreds of arrests and the seizure of tons of cocaine and marijuana. Experts are also concerned because South Florida is feared to reach the drug trafficking levels experienced in the 80’s as the federal government tightens security around the Mexican border.
