That's not the way I saw it. Mr. Kampia did a decent job, but the cards were stacked against him.
The moderator gave several advantages to Mr. Evans by taking calls right after Mr. Evans made a long statement, eliminating the opportunity for Mr. Kampia to respond.
The moderator also gave Mr. Evans the last word.
I get the impression the US anti-drug forces are taking these appearances by its advocates very seriously and are ramping up efforts to make sure they "win".

CyanideChrist,
Wed Dec 8 20:28:35 2004 Notice the old tactic the prohibitionists tried to use on Rob Kampia, bringing up his past that he grew marijuana to make him look biased and discredit his message. It is easier to criticize the messenger than deal with the message.
I find it funny that they tried to use this tactic when in fact David Evans states that there is not enough scientific evidence (ignoring any evidence which disagrees with his opinion). At the same time stubbornly and blindly opposing any form of marijuana (that cannot be solely produced by the medical industry) despite this lack of scientific evidence. Talk about biased.
I'd like to note David Evans had nothing to say about sick people being arrested. Even when he stated that marijuana type substances based on THC have been approved by the FDA and it has been proven that THC/THC based substances do have medical use.
I also find it interesting that this David Evans also states that if people decide what medicines they can take there will be chaos in the system. I say if people decide what medicines they take there will be freedom. This statement shows us that David Evans is anti-freedom, un-american and ultimately anti-democracy by not allowing the people to govern themselves.
"If people let government decide what foods they eat and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as sorry a state as are the souls of those who live under tyranny."
